this is something i won't share w/my BF as he's dying to install linux but has absolutely no time. bah (i myself am too techically stoopit to even know where to begin. but from all the stuff i've read about it, i dig the linux ethos).

yes but i've read a few articles on slashdot and the general consensus was one should really be more tech-inclined than i am in order to use linux to full advantage. pet man was gonna put linux on the old windoze box so i could mess around w/it but it never happened (no time).

Everytime you start something new then it's hard. Linux needs no serious tech knowledge. If you have the time to fool around with it then it gets really easy. Remember that not all linux are easy. Some are for real geeks but Red Hat, Suse and Mandrake are cool.

i dint mean to install it, i meant that i'd read things that said to maintain it and use it at optimum (they were talking about red hat, mandrake, like that). i love new tech but i'm hopeless, techologically (and in other areas)

      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
