Canned Heat - Living the Blues

Here's another great 60's band from San Francisco--Canned Heat were one of the most popular blues rock acts at the time and this was their best work by far and one of my own personal favorites. This double album, which was released in 1968, featured 10 tracks including the Top 40 hit 'Going Up The Country' and a 41 minute live version of 'Refried Boogie' (Parts 1 & 2). A UK label remastered this classic in 2003 and its still available through Amazon and you should have it in your collection.

Going up the country is a great tune. I have it on LP and never get tired of listening to it while laughing at the size of the singer with the funny voice

The really heavy (fat) singer is Bob (the Bear) Hite who has a gruff, growling voice. Alan Wilson, the rhythm guitarist, is the squeaky-voiced singer who did their two biggest hits...Going Up The Country and On The Road Again.

They were a really tight band, worth checking out.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
