Thats my opinion also. Just listen to Ginger Baker from Cream playing Toad to hear what drums are supposed to sound like. Or even Cheap trick playing Aint it a shame.

drums used now are exactly the same today. Funk music today also has real and loud drums. Today's rock does too. Don't compare one music style with another. Electro does not use drums but uses drum machines. That's just the way it is.

You may or may not like Blondie, whether you do or you don't doesn't matter, if you want to hear drumming listen to their cut "Dreaming", and just listen to the drum playing by Clem Burke, and yes he played it the same way live. I bet he was one tired fellow after they played that one. He doesn't let up during the whole song.

But he is a pro and has been doing it for a long time in a few different styles.....Ramones, Blondie, The Romantics...........helluva skin pounder.

Keith Moon and Billy Cobbham were pretty good drummers in their day. Today, I'm kind of impressed with the drummer for Alabama 3--pretty rock'n stuff

i think that drums are definately changing.......one example......which i do make references to often....CKY...lol......this is what RS said:

"rapid-fire guitar lines; punchy, gritty drums; lyrics about suburban alienation"

.....i happen to like the rapid fire......quick hit drums.......these guys definatly dont use electronic pads, i doubt Jess Margera would go for an artificial sound at all...since they criticize it....

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
