White Christmas

Recommended Posts

We're getting snow, sleet and other slick stuff today and tonight, with temperatures below freezing until after Christmas. What's your weather like?

Hi 28 F

Lo 26 F WINTER STORM WARNINGS continue for the area until noon Thursday.

Near BLIZZARD conditions will be possible in Southern Indiana with blowing and drifting snow late tonight and early tomorrow. Driving may become impossible with visibility near zero!

Heavy snow today in Southern Indiana will likely be doubled tonight with up to two feet of snow before all is said and done. In Louisville, we'll add to the three inches we picked up earlier today. Tonight we'll add another 5 to 10 inches. Bitterly cold air will then keep us in a deep freeze through the Christmas weekend.

In my town it's cold but we rarely get snow but the museum where I work in the mornings get lots of snow cause it's higher up. I expect snow when I get up there in a few hours ( which reminds that I have to get some sleep now)

It's a toss up.

Could be snow, cold be rain.

It's in situations like this that the lake effect monster turns on and we get plastered with 2 feet while places just miles south get nothing.

It's a very unpredictable time.

Right now it's 28 degrees F.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
