As part of NExNE ’07 – Music Convention North East: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH - BRING YOUR DAUGHTER TO THE (SLAUGHTER) SEMINAR GREEN DRAGON STUDIOS, STOCKTON-ON-TEES 6-8pm This panel will look at how Rock and Metal is perceived, marketed and promoted by the music industry. Does this genre run in a parallel universe to that of the mainstream music business? Our panel all have a great deal of experience to draw upon in answering this question. • Dave Thorne Previously Marketing Manager at Mercury/Vertigo where his roster included acts like Metallica. Dave now runs Noise Pollution Management, looking after Swedish Metal outfit Arch Enemy. • Eric Cook Formerly manager of Venom and now director of Demolition Records. Eric now works with artists such as: Twisted Sister, Hanoi Rocks, Wasp and McQueen. • Dave Ling A music journalist for more than 20 years, Dave Ling was part of the team that launched Metal Hammer magazine into the UK, also a co-founder of both RAW and Classic Rock magazines. He now writes for Classic Rock and Metal Hammer. Thursday September 6th – Life in a multi-million selling band – What’s it all about? Ally McErlaine has been the guitarist with the group Texas for over twenty years. In that time he has toured the world and contributed to the band’s huge sales success. It seems like a perfect life, but how perfect is it? Come and hear what Ally has to say about his experiences in the music business. Friday September 7th – Bring your daughter to the (slaughter) seminar.
