After a sell out Easter Sunday with Greg Wilson, Slide return on Bank Holiday Sunday 28 May with a wonderful disco all dayer at POW Brixton.
Heading things up is the brilliant Late Nite Tuff Guy, after his triumphant Slide appearance last summer, plus regular guest and French edit king, The Reflex, with the brilliant crate digger Red Greg rounding things off. Support from residents across the venue.

Late Nite Tuff Guy is a new breed of disco vigilante, peddling the most credible of disco edits and accruing some serious acclaim from an illustrious roll call of industry people in the know. Greg Wilson, Jackmaster and Dimitri from Paris have been regularly playing a handful of LNTG tracks in any given set and their ongoing support is testament to the quality of his work.

Regular guest The Reflex supports...Nile Rodgers is a fan. Kid Creole is a fan. Disclosure, Jazzy Jeff, and Joris Voorn are all fans. Fascinated by the remix from an early age, London-based French native Nicolas Laugier, aka The Reflex, takes his cue from the first wave of disco remixers by using only the original sounds from the master tapes (or stems) to breathe new life into soul, pop and disco classics.

Red Greg has had a busy 2017, spinning at the likes of Mona Paris, Southern Soul Festival, Inner City Soul, XOYO, Altered Soul Experiments plus the Upcoming Liverpool Disco Festival.

Egg London Headliners introduction:

Detroit Swindle:
When trying to define their ‘success’, it’s hard to pin it down to just one thing. Perhaps it’s their talent to find that typical groove that has been so widely acclaimed. Or maybe it’s their ability to connect musical styles spanning over more than 5 decades (and continents) into their sets and productions in such a way that you’re always curious to hear what comes next. Or could it be because they’re always on the move, searching for that new thing to challenge themselves in their productions and live sets. Whatever it is, it’s keeping them rather busy.

Not surprisingly, staying busy is exactly what they’re doing with their label, Heist Recordings. Maarten and Lars are constantly on the look out for new music and that one promising artist that they feel needs to be heard. Though Heist saw it’s very first EP only back in 2013, it already has become the go-to label for many A-list dj’s. It has released a wide variety of exciting EP’s by a.o. Fouk, Max Graef, Brame & Hamo, M.ono, Frits Wentink, M.ono, Andy Hart and of course Detroit Swindle themselves. They’re working hard to give Heist that unique edge with the artists they work with, the artwork they put forward and the special projects they have on the label such as the yearly Roundup EP, a tradition where every artist of that year remixes another artist, effectuated by the luck of the draw.

Apart from Heist Recordings, Detroit Swindle have released music on renowned labels like Freerange, Future Classics, Dirt Crew (where they released their well received debut album ‘Boxed Out’), Tsuba, Classic Music Company, Kaoz Theory and many more. This includes notable remixes for Hercules and Love Affair, Chet Faker, Seven Davis Jr. and Romanthony’s track ‘Too Long’ produced by Daft Punk.

The boys are as much enthusiastic record diggers and synth hunters as they are lovers of modern day electronic music. With their position as curators of the Amsterdam house playlist for 22tracks they share their love for house music. This also goes for their own club night: ‘The Great Escape’, where they get to invite some of their favourite artists as well as young talent. The concept of ‘The Great Escape’ started out at Amsterdam’s Studio 80, but soon after made it’s way all over Europe with showcases in Paris, Leeds and London.

Norman Jay joins us Up On The Roof for the 3rd and final time of the summer of 2016. This time, it's a very special edition of his legendary long-running 'Good Times' party, and will be joined by regular cohort Rudi Ranx.

Norman's legendary Good Times sound system, was the go-to spot at Europe's largest street party, the Notting Hill Carnival, for 30 years.

Good Times was THE party that changed the face of the Notting Hill Carnival and which has become a Summertime fixture at festivals worldwide. Jay set up his first sound system, Great Tribulation, in 1979 with his brother Joey which became Good Times in 1981, the start of a 30-year residency at Notting Hill Carnival. Norman changed the face of the music played there, introducing a range of gritty, soulful styles to complement the predominantly reggae-based sound systems. The move paved the way for the open-minded Carnival we know today, with Good Times still at its core.

DJ Derek played twice for us on this date and we were greatly saddened that he passed away earlier this year. His close friend fellow DJ and Up On The Roof regular, Count Skylarkin, has spent the past months browsing through Derek’s legendary collection of reggae, ska, soul, rhythm & blues and calypso, and will be dipping into those famous Sweet Memory Sounds too close the party.

5. Junction 2 Festival

Drumcode, The Hydra and Closer
Saturday 4th June 2016

Boston Manor Park, TW8 9JX
Zone 4, London

Adam Beyer's Drumcode takes centre stage underneath the dominating bridge structure. Powerful lines of pillars run down the length of the dance floor creating a unique, raw experience that can only be compared to the infamous Kappa FuturFestival in Italy.

Contrasting with the brutalist aesthetic of the main stage, the site’s natural beauty is truly revealed when you follow tree-lined pathways to the field where The Hydra and Closer stages will sit.

The Site

Boston Manor Park immediately presents the contrasts of the capital city. All at once it is both green space and abstract architecture. On approach the site is dominated by the overhead bridge. Powerful lines stream into the distance as the bridge stretches across the park below creating a corridor of pillars. Visitors will be drawn into lush parkland and woodlands, then onward, down the length of the avenue ahead, crossing a bridge over a small moat and onto an island upon which the mainstage will sit, cocooned amongst concrete and trees with water on all sides.

Contrasting with the brutalist aesthetic of the Drumcode stage, the site’s natural beauty is truly revealed when you see the location of The Hydra and Closer stages. Enclosed by a tree line and linked to the bridge area through a series of winding woodland paths, step down into an inviting open field where LWE will be creating an array of beautiful bars, interesting art and a delicious food area.

Each of the stages will provide a unique and different atmosphere, all are covered so you can enjoy the music and not worry about any unreliable British weather!

Duncan Beiny aka DJ Yoda is no ordinary scratch DJ. His seminal How To Cut & Paste series showcased a tongue-in-cheek mixing style that prompted Q Magazine to declare him “one of the ten DJs to see before you die”, whilst Hip Hop Connection voted him “one of the top three DJs in the world”.

From hip-hop beginnings, DJ Yoda has evolved in the past ten years, using his turntable skills and diverse influences as varied as Funk, B-more, Kuduro, Reggae, Drum ‘n’ Bass and even Big Band Swing and Country & Western to make no holds barred party music. In support comes Soulection's own Hannah Faith.

His most recent collaboration album ‘Breakfast of Champions’ has recently been released to an excellent critical response. With help from vocalists Sparkz and Truthos Mufasa from The Mouse Outfit, beatboxer & producer extraordinaire Shlomo and rising wordsmith Rex Domino.

Get Diverted’s customary opening party this year brings acid house pioneer A Guy Called Gerald alongside Superfreq’s Mr C. We look forward to bringing you another excellent programme of terrace parties in our 8th year on the Brixton Roof Top!

Our first headliner, A Guy Called Gerald pretty much kick-started UK acid house with his ’88 Hacienda classic ‘Voodoo Ray’ and ‘Pacific State‘ (he was one of the founding members of 808 State) – gatecrashing the charts in the process – and went on to lay down the blueprint for jungle music - and has since continued his role as one of the UK’s most dedicated producers. On top of releases on seminal labels like Perlon, Sender, !K7 and Beatstreet over the past 10 years, GCG released his 9th album ‘Tronic Jazz: The Berlin Sessions’ last year on specialist Berlin label Laboratory Instinct. We welcome one of dance music’s most unassuming heroes to take us way back to a time when US imports were streaming into the underground record stores in Manchester.

Alongside Gerald we are excited to have the return of Mr C to Get Diverted. International DJ, innovative producer, founder of Superfreq, Plink Plonk, End Recordings, The Shamen frontman and co owner of The End, Mr C emerged as a pioneering force in the house music scene in 1987 and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Starting off as an MC in London’s clubs at the age of 16, he then hooked up with Colin Faver and Eddie Richards to become the resident rapper at Camden Palace. This inspired Richard to become a DJ, playing his beloved house and techno at some of London most infamous parties including Fantasy, Release and Harmony alongside holding down a weekly radio show called Future Music on Kiss FM.

In 1995 Richard opened the legendary nightclub The End, with Layo Paskin, he is also the founder and owner of Plink Plonk records and promoter of the hedonistic Superfreq parties which operate globally. He remains very current on the production front with recent releases on Berlin label Get Physical. Now residing in LA, Mr C’s London gigs are now less frequent, which makes his Good Friday appearance even more special.

Radioactive Man completes our trio of headliners playing a live set in the club room. He is a cult DJ that skirts the vanguards of rave culture and as a live act he’s performed in many stand out situations. This includes a residency at Bloc festival, regular sessions at London home from home fabric as well as international festival and club dates – a highlight being at Sonar in front of 8000 international music fans before Jeff Mills and Mad Mike. His resilience to stick with a full hardware set up is guarantees that his trademark warmth and personality envelopes the crowd making the best outlet for his raw machine funk sound.

We also welcome back our resident Samantha Blackburn, having spent last summer in South Africa, alongside Elijah Collins, Russell Wayne, Rob Alldritt and more in the Boudoir!

12. Hot Since 82 - Knee Deep in London
09.04.16
10:00pm – 06:00am
Great Suffolk Street Warehouse

29 Great Suffolk Street
Southwark
London, SE1 0NS

November saw the best Knee Deep in London yet at Studio Spaces, and looking to crank things up a level for the next one; Hot Since 82 has chosen the famous arches of the Great Suffolk Street Warehouse.

From the immersive clubbing concept TAKEN, to the intimate and industrial surroundings of The Laundry and The Steelyard; the vibe of Hot Since 82’s London parties have become a corner stone of London's club scene. With all of these shows selling out many moons in advance, the capital simply can’t get enough of Daley Padley.

This April will be the hottest ticket yet, as Hot Since 82 curates a lineup over 2 rooms in one of London’s most iconic spaces. Teaming up with LWE, this cavernous warehouse venue can be regarded as their spiritual birthplace; and a return is long overdue for them.

After the sell out success of the last year with Gilles Peterson and previous years with Derrick Carter, Todd Terje and Greg Wilson, we welcome back legendary crate digger and BBC 6Music favourite Gilles Peterson to headline our NYE party, alongside edit maestro The Reflex and support across the venue.

Gilles joins us for NYE once again after superb summer 'Up On The Roof' parties over the last four years.

Starting off life as a club DJ, Gilles continues to spin passionately around the world. From Kazakhstan to Hackney, Istanbul, New York, Beijing and beyond … he has always seen himself first and foremost as a selector of discs for the Dance!

The formula for Gilles’ radio shows is a simple one: the finest new music he can lay his hands on…In addition to his BBC 6 Music show, Gilles records a separate weekly Worldwide programme that is syndicated to 8 stations across the globe including France’s avant-garde Radio Nova, VRT StuBru-Belgium, Arrow FM in the Netherlands, CRO Wave- Czech Republic, FM4 in Austria, Radio X and WDR Funkhaus Europa - Germany.

Every year, the musical heroes of the global underground are brought together and honoured at the Worldwide Awards - an annual celebration of the best music from the show that year held in London and hosted by Gilles.

Today, Peterson is at the forefront of his own independent label - Brownswood Recordings.

Regular guest The Reflex supports...Nile Rodgers is a fan. Kid Creole is a fan. Disclosure, Jazzy Jeff, and Joris Voorn are all fans. From house music royalty, Joey Negro, Dimitri from Paris and Mousse T, to the original DJ - remix pioneers John Morales, Greg Wilson, Danny Krivit, and Nicky Siano, all the way to Aeroplane, DJ Marky, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Horse Meat Disco, J.Rocc, Nic Fanciulli, Jazzie B, Cut Killer, Rainer Truby, Acid Arab, Nightmares on Wax… They are all fans of The Reflex.

Fascinated by the remix from an early age, London-based French native Nicolas Laugier, aka The Reflex, takes his cue from the first wave of disco remixers by using only the original sounds from the master tapes (or stems) to breathe new life into soul, pop and disco classics. Imaginative arrangements, boxfresh sonics and intricate editing make The Reflex Revisions rocket fuel for every DJ set.

Support across the venue.
