  1. I was just sent a link of the finest sounding (and looking!) Alt. Country musician I’ve seen in awhile! Mike Zito, have you heard of him? I grew up on Bonnie Raitt, CSN, and got into Ryan Adams a few years back so I really love this kind of music. I think everyone should check out Mike Zito and please hit me back with your alt country or roots-rock favorites! Mike Zito
  2. I originally heard the great jazz sound of Rosey when I saw "Bridget Jones' Diary", in which her song "Love" was featured. I just want to recommend her new album, "Luckiest Girl" to anyone who's looking to add quality music into his or her library. More info here, and I hope you enjoy her! rosey
  3. Hey blues lovers, I know if you all love real heart felt Blues music like me you will dig this kid named Sean Costello. He is the real deal. This Atlanta native has mastered the guitar at 25 and is an amazing singer songwriter too. He has already shared stages with B.B. King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, and Bo Diddley to name a few. I’m really getting into his new song he recently put up on Myspace called Anytime You Want from his upcoming release “We Can Get Together,” which comes out Feb 19 on a new blues label called Delta Groove Records. http://www.deltagrooveproductions.com/musi...tello/main.html
  4. Hey all, I was at Tao in Vegas the other week (amazing club by the way) and heard the best remix ever but I didn’t know who it was! I actually saw the DJ later that night at the bar and sang the song to him and he said that it was called “Stars” by Erika Jayne. I looked her up on Myspace and saw that Stars is in the top 20 on the Dance Charts and her song Rollercoaster is number 9 on the year end Dance Charts for 2007. I LOVE the Moto Blanco remix of Stars, its perfect for the club. Check her out on Myspace and she has a hot video on Youtube for Roller Coaster too: myspace
  5. Hey everybody- I wanted to share some music news: Shout! Factory is releasing an electrifying 7-CD series encompassing GRAMMY winners from four of the legendary awards' major genres, which is awesome considering this is the 50th anniversary of the Grammy’s! The Ultimate GRAMMY® Collection: Contemporary R&B and Contemporary Pop will arrive on Nov. 27, just days before the CBS broadcast on Nov. 30 of "My Night at the GRAMMYs," a two-hour special highlighting 25 favorite GRAMMY moments as voted on by music fans. You can check out the tracks at: www.grammy.com/CDtracks.pdf. I know for sure that Justin Timberlake, John Mayer, Macy Gray and Madonna are all a part of the contemporary pop cd. Also, a portion of the proceeds from the Ultimate GRAMMY Collection CD series will benefit the MusiCares Foundation® and The GRAMMY Foundation®, two charitable arms of The Recording Academy. MusiCares provides a safety net of critical health and human services and financial assistance for music people in times of need. Happy Holidays!
  6. Been listenin’ to a great new country / roots act called the Gene Butler Band that has that old soul feel to it so I thought I’d spread the word about his new CD called “Concrete Country.” Great vocals by Gene and tremendous musicianship by everyone in the band plus Lucinda Williams contributes vocals on the CD. If you’d like to give his tunes a listen, you can find them on myspace at www.myspace.com/genebutlerband or the band’s website at www.genebutlerband.com. Just sharing some good ole Texas country two steppin music for those who are into it.
  7. Just wanting to tell everyone about a gutsy new artist I found on Myspace. Her name is Sheila Swift, and her new album is called “The Shape of Things.” To me, Sheila sounds a lot like Pat Benatar back in the day, which I realize is sort of an old-school description – but to me, Sheila Swift has that same vocal power and rocker quality to her songs. I think my favorite song off her new album is the first track called “Feel Like I Do” which also sounds a little like Avril Lavigne to me. Some of Sheila Swift’s new music, including her song “Feel Like I Do” is available for listening on MySpace, if you’d like to give her a listen. www.myspace.com/sheilaswift I’m curious what everyone thinks about this new artist from my home state, Texas.
  8. I’m Christy, and I’m kind of new to the forum, but I was curious if anyone here are big fans of The Holmes Brothers? One of my favorite blues artists, Kemp Harris, is coming out with a new CD on March 13th . The new recording is called “Edenton” and I read on MySpace that The Holmes Brothers are special guests on it…so I wanted to share it with you all. I’ve been following Kemp since his first album in 2002 “Sometimes in Bad Weather.” Does anyone remember that album? If not and if you are curious about what Kemp’s style is like, to me it has this great old-time meets contemporary blues feel to it. But I’m curious as to what you think as I am a relatively new blues music enthusiast. You can hear the new tunes from Kemp at his new myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/kempharrismusic Do you recognize The Holmes Brothers singing on “Sweet Weepin Jesus?” I think they’re fantastic and I love their new release that just came out last week titled, “State Of Grace.”
  9. Shauna Burns developed her delicate vocals and striking piano while growing up in Miami, Florida. Shauna derived inspiration from her mother's love for the piano. Shauna’s songwriting skills prospered and when she went off to college, her music found fans that were enthusiastic and appreciative of the artistry they heard. Every Thought was the Shauna Burns debut release in 2006. The recording received rave reviews followed by successful sales. Her 2007 follow-up EP release entitled Desert Tune is an engaging five song EP that captures the spirit and warmth of Shauna’s hypnotic vocals and temperate piano playing. The tracks are clever while playful, in accord with her nature of being personal and captivating. Shauna and her piano are once again joined by co-producer and drummer James Clark, Ryan Tilby on guitar and bass with Steve Lemmon on guitar. Shauna spent some time residing in the desert before recording the EP and the listener benefits from that journey while listening to the music. Shauna explains her songwriting philosophy as, "It can start with just a feeling, that seed in your stomach that grows until you cannot ignore it anymore. I feel the need to cultivate and nurture these seeds because seeds can grow into big ideas if we take care. It makes me question: What's next for all of us in this world? What is the universe trying to tell us? I’m listening." Finding inspiration in the world around her is what Shauna Burns is all about and it is no wonder her songs have such feeling and depth. Visit the Shauna Burns website for updates, sound samples, pictures and more. http://www.shaunaburns.com http://www.myspace.com/shaunaburns
  10. Hey everyone Have you heard Shauna Burns’ new EP? I just received it. It’s called "Desert Tune." I found Shauna last year on MySpace when she released her first album “Every Thought,” and I’ve been following her ever since. “Desert Tune” is a 5 song extension of that album. So MY fave is a song called “I’m Dirty.” Check it out on her space at www.myspace.com/shaunaburns ... you’ll see why it’s my favorite! You’ll dig it! Shauna is like a cross between Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, and Kate Bush…all rolled into one pretty impressive pianist! She has an official site for more information about her www.shaunaburns.com ! Happy Holidays, y’all
