  1. Hi there! I found out about the free Manchester Festival yesterday whilst surfing music sites using the new Blinkx.com search engine (check it out by the way as it is really fast!). There was supposed to be a free music festival at Castlefield Arena on Sunday 30 May featuring the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, The Music, Desolation Angels and Haven. It was an anti-racism festival to draw awareness to the fact that the BNP are attempting to stand in the June elections, the hope being that people will unite together to defeat them. The festival is taking place all over the country - the London version has sets by Noel Gallagher and David Gray. But the festival has been blocked by Manchester Police who believe an anti-racist festival infringes on the rights of the BNP!! The festival has moved to Liverpool Uni and there will be coaches going from Manchester - check the Unite Against Facism website for details ! But determined not to be defeated there are plans to push through a festival in Manchester later this year. Please give your support and do all you can to make sure it succeeds... cheers ;)
  2. Hi there Came across this band whilst surfing music sites on the new Blinkx.com search engine (well worth checking out as it is really fast and looks at what you are reading etc so it can throw up related info for you!). Don't think they have been about that long but their new album Asylum is incredible. If you like your music dark, melancholy and passionate I highly recommend checking them out. Think you can get their stuff through amazon. Think PJ Harvey, early Joy Division or the Pumpkins... ;)
  3. Overrated has to be Franz Ferdinand Underrated - millions of underground bands you can only find by surfing the net. Namely The Sonar Yen, Hooker and Desolation Angels. Came across them whilst surfing music sites on the new Blinkx.com search engine (well worth a try by the way!). Just got 'The Slow Picture' by the Yen and 'Asylum' by the Angels. If you like your music dark, melancholy and passionate definitely look these guys up :ro ;)
  4. Don't know if this is any use to you but there is a new search engine called Blinkx.com which is free and available in the UK for the first time ever. It charts what you are looking at or writing and then throws up immediate links to related information saving you loads of time etc. Might be useful when searching the web ;)
