  1. I’ve got what at first glance may seem like a strange question/request. I’m putting together a mix for my daughter’s second birthday and I need a little help. We just visited Disneyland and needless to say she’s now obsessed with all things Disney so she’s having a Disney themed party. Over the past two years she’s been introduced to all kinds of music (not just the regular kids fare). So with that in mind I set out making a mix of familiar Disney songs by not so familiar artists. After digging through my collection I’ve come up with a lot of jazz (covers of Someday My Prince will Come by Miles Davis and Etta Jones, Coltrane’s version of Chim Chim Cheree, as well as a whole slew of Disney songs by Louis Armstrong and Dave Brubeck both of whom released entire albums of covers). I’ve even got some Reggae, Bossa Nova, Bluegrass and even Hip Hop (I found an album out of Japan of remixes of classic Disney songs by Muro, DJ Hasebe and Zeebra called Breaks and Beats Disney). But now I need some help. Does anyone know of any soul artists (or others) who have done Disney covers. So far I’ve got the Supremes doing Whistle While You Work and When You Wish Upon a Star as well as covers of Zip a Dee Doo Dah by Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans, the Jackson 5, the Shirelles and Little Richard but that’s about it. With over 60 years of classic songs there have got to be others who have gone Disney. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
