1. Yahoo music reports: "This January, the artist who first lured the media spotlight in the late 1980s, returns to record stores with two albums -- a self-titled solo record and an album with a new band called the Gaddabouts featuring Brickell and drummer Steve Gadd, a longtime collaborator with her husband, Paul Simon. Brickell, 44, started both projects years ago. The first sessions on her solo album took place in 2003, and the idea for the Gaddabouts band came up in 2000 after a conversation she had with Gadd in a hotel lobby following a Simon concert." 2. Yahoo reports from NEW DELHI – "Outspoken vegetarian Paul McCartney is urging India to declare a national Vegetarian Day to celebrate meat-free living and compassion toward animals. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says McCartney sent a letter to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying such a day could save animals while helping to protect both the environment and people's health. McCartney's letter says "it would be a celebration of life." 4. "ST. LOUIS – Chuck Berry, who fell ill with exhaustion and was escorted from stage during a Chicago concert this weekend, has returned home to suburban St. Louis, a close friend of the rock-and-roll legend said Monday. The 84-year-old performer did not require hospitalization and Berry's friend, Joe Edwards, said he appeared to have fully recovered. 5. NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) – "LimeWire isn't going quietly to its death. The popular file-sharing service, which allows people to transfer music, movies and TV shows free of charge over the Internet, is looking to get court-ordered subpoenas that require third parties to open up about their dealings with the record industry." 6. Baker Street reached #2 and Stuck In The Middle With You was a #6 hit. He had several chart entries but those were the only 2 in the top 10 I believe.
7. That last penguin clip is a winner. He must have gotten a 50 cal for Christmas. Or maybe some snowshoes. or both....
8. Johnnie Taylor only had 2 top 10 hits on the Billboard hot 100 charts and it was the 2 you have the vid clips. He had others that made Top 10 on the Soul charts. He had 21 songs that made it on the Hot 100 Billboard charts. Not bad at all. Who's Making Love was the title track to his 1968 album. Great album with some great musicians. Issac Hayes and Booker T played on that album. I have a copy of quite a few of Johnnie Taylor's albums although many are low bit rate. Sam & Dave had 13 on the Hot 100 and only 2 in the top 10. I'm betting that a lot more people know who Sam & Dave are than know who Johnnie Taylor is even though he was around longer and had more chart entries. Great R&B all the way around.
9. The Temptations are a great group and are one of my all time favorite groups. They released several Christmas albums and they can really sing a Christmas tune. The free mix posted above is different from the one of Silent Night on their 1970, 1980 or 2001 Christmas albums. Gotta love Motown Christmas tunes4sure. The 1963 A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector is also a super album and is my favorite single Christmas album.
10.
Bo Diddley - Another Sugar Daddy The influential rock and roll singer/guitarist released the following song in 1968.
That is an obscure track4sure. I bet that 45 would bring a few bucks on ebay. The only place that track is available that I know of is on this compilation from 2004.
11. The bridge vid was clearer than I expected. ...Then again, I didn't expect much.
12.
Commie, not liberal
Complete nut or totally wasted4sure. Better living through modern chemistry! Yep, I noticed it seemed to be a Russian clip. I'm betting he just moved there from Californie.
13.
OMG!
I guess he is you neighbor? He looks/acts like a liberal.
14. For whatever reason, BK doesn't work for me with FireFox so I use IE. I also use IE for a very few other sites. Over 98% of the time I use Firefox. My son has moved away from FireFox to Opera or Chrome or some shit but I haven't tried those. IE crashes so damn often and has a bazillion other issues that I can't deal with. FireFox is easy for a redneck to use. With NoScript, AdBlock, AdBlock plus, AutoPager and SearchMenu as add-ons, FireFox is great for trailer park pirates. I won't say that FireFox is better than sex but I will say it is better than sex with my wife.
15. Very cool dog. Our weenie dog is now able to walk like he is drunk. His back surgery was 4 weeks ago yesterday. We have a little sling to help hold his back end up while he walks and he can go like Hell for about 300 yards. He continues to improve very slowly. We don't expect a full recovery but we are hoping for something close to a full recovery. If he gets a little better at least he won't need a wheelchair. He still thinks he is terminator and we can't convince him otherwise. He can get around the house by himself but we try to slow him down a little because the vet said to not let him do too much yet.
16. That was a huge hit4sure. I remember seeing him on several tv shows way back when. I remember hearing "Hold Me Tight" a lot on the radio too. Here is a list of his charting songs and chart positions by year: 1957 23 A Very Special Love 1965 88 Let's Move and Groove 1968 5 Hold Me Tight 1968 58 You Got Soul 1969 39 Cupid 1972 1 I Can See Clearly Now 1973 12 Stir It Up 1973 77 My Merry-Go-Round 1974 91 Loving You
17.
He has a ton of top 40 hits back in the day. I think Redneck4sure is a fan - no doubt he will comment.
Yep. I waited 18 months though just to keep you wondering, "When?" I don't currently have any of his vinyl but I do have some nice vinyl lossless rips of "Life & Times", "You don't mess around with Jim" and "I got a name". Gotta love that vinyl!
18. Bobby Russell - Words, Music, Laughter And Tears (1968) All songs written by Bobby Russell. I bought a vinyl copy of this album a few weeks back on Amazon I think. If not, I got it on eBay. Bobby wrote quite a few hit songs for others. Probably his biggest hit for himself was Saturday Morning Confusion in 1973 or so. Tracks 1. For A While We Helped Each Other Out 2. Dusty 3. Sure Gonna Miss Her 4. I Made You This Way 5. 1432 Franklin Pike Circle Hero 6. Honey 7. Little Green Apples 8. The Joker Went Wild 9. Ruby Red, Baby Blue 10. Let’s Talk About Them 11. 22. I'm guessing the mofo with the sunflower is your neighbor??
23.
WAY too much info, d00d!!!!
I guess this means you don't want to see pics?? Bruno still has no movement in his hind legs. Doc says don't give up yet. We'll see.
24. I let wifey make the call. I would have had him put to sleep but I didn't tell her that. Vet says he still has no motor function today in his hind legs but that is normal and he still thinks Bruno will walk again. If not, we'll get a wheelchair for him. We were referred by our vet at the local animal hospital to take him to an animal hospital 40 miles from here that is huge. The vet that did the surgery told my wife that they did 450 weenie dog back surgeries last year just like the one that Bruno had performed on him. I don't know if the vet meant that he did 450 himself or if the hospital did 450 using several different vets. Anyway, my wife is satisfied that he is getting first class care by a very competent staff. I am satisfied that we have the most expensive weenie dog on the block. That dog really likes my wife and she isn't giving up on him. Lucky for him that he likes her better. It just saved his life. Lucky for her I can't have them both put to sleep.
