  2. Does it seem like we've been seeing less of Kellyanne Conway lately? Once the most recognizable mouthpiece of President Trump, she hasn't been on TV since last week, when she said on MSNBC that Trump still had "full confidence" in Gen. Michael Flynn...a few hours before Flynn resigned. If absence makes the heart grow fonder, Kellyanne's fans can prepare for the worst— Conway has reportedly fallen out of favor with Trump. On Wednesday, CNN reported that Conway's been "sidelined," taking her out of the mix as one of Trump's media surrogates. Even before that interview, Conway's presence seemed to have peaked. After a series of particularly contentious interviews, CNN reportedly began passing on interviews with ConwayMorning Joe, the MSNBC show that is known to count Trump as a fan, also reportedly refused to have her on. 11. The Irishman: Martin Scorsese's The Irishman, starring Robert De Niro, is heading to Netflix. It's based on I Heard You Paint Houses, a book by Charles Brandt that told the story of a mob hitman who claimed he knew what really happened to long-missing union leader Jimmy Hoffa. De Niro will play the hitman; so-called "de-aging" technology will make the 73-year-old actor look younger for the role. Al Pacino and others are in negotiations to join the cast. The movie is aiming for release in 2019. [Indiewire] Hitman: Director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, above left) says he "tried to make a Hitman movie a few years ago. 13. It's hard to believe that after five years of record drought, many Californians are hoping that this winter's weekly deluges will come to a swift conclusion. The latest storm, which struck over the weekend and ended on Tuesday, has forced thousands to evacuate, including urban residents in San Jose, as floodwaters continue to rise and levees are strained. This winter demonstrates how too much of a good thing — in this case, rain and mountain snow — can lead to severe problems. SEE ALSO: Insane drone footage shows massive damage and flooding at California's Oroville Dam This is increasingly important, since human-caused global warming is already causing both ends of the weather extremes spectrum — too little water and too much — to occur more frequently and with greater intensity. 21. The blank, robotic VR masks seen in mixed reality videos could soon receive a facial fix that's pretty cool but also kind of creepy, just like any good advancement in technology should be. SEE ALSO: Wearing a VR headset gets even more awkward underwater In a new blog post on the Google Research Blog (hat tip to The Verge), a few researchers from the tech giant discuss the process of replacing the blocky VR headset with an image of the user's face for mixed reality videos — videos that show both the VR user and the virtual reality around them. The researchers hope they might eventually be able to extend this "headset removal" technique beyond mixed reality videos and into the VR world itself, increasing engagement and social interaction.
