When Apple first announced the 27-inch iMac last month, tech enthusiasts the world over were rubbing their hands together at the prospect of owning one of largest all-in-one computer screens ever built. But many of those same buyers are now flocking to the Apple user forum to report a multitude of hardware problems and voice their disappointment with the new iMac. read more: http://fwd4.me/77N source: LOUISA HEARN/smh.com.au images: Fair Use/Youtube/Screengrab: IMAC 27": “Got my new iMac shipped from Shanghai the very day they launched. Was really excited but now really disappointed by this recuring problem . . . Sometimes the screen completely blacks out for 2-3 seconds on intervals of 5-6 secs and the machine becomes useless,” wrote a forum user in the US. “Thanks. Just canceled my iMac order. I could have lived with a screen that is really a big mirror but if it also flickers that is a showstopper, sorry Apple,” said a forum user in the Netherlands.

AS 1980 cult movie The Blues Brothers proved, you can pull a crowd when you combine getting a great band back together and blokes doing outrageous things in motor vehicles. This weekend Sydney's Olympic Park is going to be packed with people watching V8 Supercars and a re-formed Cold Chisel. Cold Chisel formed in Adelaide in 1973, boasted a legendary live show and brought out their breakthrough album, Breakfast At Sweathearts, in 1979. Songs like Khe Sanh, Bow River and Flame Trees became the anthems of a generation. Despite breaking up in 1983, Chisel's massive appeal lives on and getting the band on the bill is a major reason why V8 Supercars is expecting more than 150,000 over its three days of racing that starts on Friday. With subtle reference to the band's wild ways, frontman Barnes said Chisel had agreed to the V8s gig because: "It just seemed like the right marriage of big event, summer in Sydney and, you know, we have always had a bit of a penchant for speed." It got some laughs. read more: http://fwd4.me/76k source: DANIEL LEWIS/SMH Cold Chisel's promo-video for the track 'Star Hotel' taken from the 1981 live album 'Swingshift'. This track also appears on the 1980 album 'East'. The subject of the song is about a 1979 riot out in the city of NewCastle in Aussie, caused by the closing of the popular pub Star Hotel. New footage of the riot can be seen in this video. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cold_Chisel image: Fair Use/Youtube/Screengrab: JIMMY BARNES/COLD CHISEL
