  10. lol, well you might have a point there ken :P Unfortunately it seems like alot of artists in the pop genre today take alot of liberites with classic rock licks and phrases, claiming it as their own, I guess there's no objection and I'm sure it's gone on ad infinitum but personally I think it changes the term "original song"
  11. http://www.cbc.ca/arts/features/downloading/ I don't think I'd like to see this progression take place, although we're seeing it already
  12. came across this site, seems like it might be of interest to alot of you "alternative" lol rockers http://www.trouserpress.com/index.php
  13. Neil Young tour powered by vegetable oil http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Music/03/1...reut/index.html his comments about the film "greendale", see, it is possible to stick to the plot  old man take a look at my life "You can read about it in any paper; it's happening right now," Young said. "They're real people. And they're being affected by what's going on." Emblematic of that is the character of Grandpa, the outspoken patriarch of the Green family. Cutting to the heart of the matter with folksy and incisive observations, he's struck a chord with American concert audiences. "He's having a rough time," Young said. "The whole thing that he believed in is breaking down." Young senses that, like Grandpa, his U.S. audiences "don't like America to not be free. They don't like all of this behind-the-scenes stuff," he added, referring to the Patriot Act, a controversial tool in the U.S. government's war on terror. Young said he supported the act until he saw how it was being implemented. "It gives people who are shown to be untrustworthy -- and unworthy of having power -- way too much power." But for all the bleak issues that "Greendale" confronts, it's not hopelessness that prevails but a powerful sense of renewal, with 18-year-old protagonist Sun Green (Sarah White) finding her voice as an artist and protester. "I believe in youth," Young said. "It's eternally going to wash away all of the sins and start over again. It is the great thing that happens." Young, whose four-decade career has been characterized by faithfulness to his muse rather than slavishness to audience expectations, didn't set out to create a self-described "musical novel."
  14. I think the most disappointing is when led zeppelin sold out and let their music be used to sell cadillacs.
  15. well I would agree, if they would continue to produce new material, but I haven't seen anything from "the who" since the good ole days. I hate to keep mentioning my favorite band, but "the allman brothers band" has continued to evolve and their performance hasn't diminished, 3 of the original members still perform with the group, so I think they still qualify ;)
  16. http://www.cbc.ca/news/viewpoint/vp_browndan/20040322.html which bands do you think still qualify?
  17. http://www.zu33.com/moog/ also:Rick Wakeman, Eumir Deodato, Bernie Worrell Among Artists To Celebrate 50 Years of Moog Moogfest will take place at BB King's Place in NYC on May 18. Performers at the event will include Rick Wakeman (yes), Eumir Deodato (perhaps best known to many for his arrangement of "Also Sprach Zarathurstra"), Bernie Worrell, Suzanne Ciani, the NYC Reggae Collective and Pamelia Kurstin (aka the Rollerskating Thereminist). A documentary based on the life of Moog is set for release this year
  18. Can anyone really anticipate a day in Iraq when americans would not be targeted? Can anyone actually believe things will be different when the new government is in place? Is there some logic I'm missing? There is a deep seated hatred in this country for the US and I don't see how this occupation is doing any good for us or them! Is it even possible to have an Islamic democracy? I thought those 2 terms were were antagonistic to each other. If someone has read anything that can enlighten me please post a link. http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/03/31/...main/index.html
  19. I was told by some brits that have seen "the who" live, they aren't that great live in concert, most of their work is done by sessions artists, anyone confirm or have a comment?
  20. Quo Vadis was a great movie and I'll never forget him as Nero, really brought history to life for me.

    dave mason

I've always liked dave mason from the traffic days, seems to be underrated, saw him live in concert back in the 70's and his concert show was fantastic, from those I've talked to that have seen him recently he still puts on a great show, I don't know who does these ratings on allmusic.com but I give this album 4 stars. His interpretation of "take it to the limit" by the eagles, puts the eagles version to shame, and "gimme some lovin" has some great licks, great live track, anyone listened to it? what do you think?
