  1. He's no hero. If anything, he was obviously a criminal in every sense of the word. I guess I can't argue with "Icon" because all that means is "importance". Then again, "Ivan the Terrible" was an Icon too, as was Hitler (no good internet forum can be without a Hitler reference).
  2. Yeah, the GUI still needs lots of improvement. You have to press ctrl-shift-n to launch a new tab (as opposed to ctrl-t in FireFox). It lets you customize some shortcuts, but not that one. I know graphically it's easy to launch a new tab, but I like to use my keyboard more when it comes to that stuff.
  3. Opera has officially joined the browser wars. The ad banner and the slightly commerical aspect was always a sticking point in any argument between various fan boys/girls. Now that they're completely free, they will be taken seriously. The GUI still needs improvement (as well as the bookmarking features and formatting), but the new v8.5 looks really nice. As for me, I'm too attached to my FireFox extensions and too familiar with its settings to switch.
  4. Wed, 21 Sep 2005 13:02:01 GMT Author : Sunil Vyas The war of the browsers just turned a new page, with Opera Software's newest version turning free and yet less intrusive (ad-free). After its late August tenth anniversary offering of its browser free for 24 hours, the company took a month to make its decision “permanent”. Only this time it decided that along with the browser's license fees would go the rather irritating banner advertisements (that earlier subsidized free versions). Read Full Article
  5. It's a nice article for people who are intimidated by the complexity of Apache when using it in this manner (a personal web server on a home computer). Very nice run-down, especially the password protection part. Good find Dude!

In your case then, the card is excellent.
  7. FireFox is more secure in the way it handles things like Java/Java Script. It allows for far more customization allowing you to choose what you want to use and what not. As for the kind of vulnerabilities that Symantec is talking about, that is out of the end user's hands. It makes no difference anyway. No matter what browser you use, it can and will be exploited. It is a piece of software after all. The frequency that Symantec refers to is nominal. It's not as though IE has far far fewer flaws and besides, flaws in IE are not reported as much (exploiters would keep it to themselves instead of helping MS) and are probably swept under the rug by MS if they catch it. The open source nature of Mozilla means more bugs are found, which is a good thing as they will actually get fixed.
  8. Quick, someone get that guy some cocaine! You here me uncle George!?!?! Party on indeed!

Probably not, but if you want to know for sure, go to pricewatch.com and/or newegg.com and take a look for yourself.

    video card

It all depends on your needs. In my view, it's a really nice card. Is it the absolute top-of-the-line? No. But it's up there, and unless you're the ultimate gamer concerned with every little detail, then it will probably suit you. 256 MB of ram on the card is above the standard and is suitable for most gaming needs. Hell, this is similar to my card and I haven't had any problems running anything.
  11. The "two Americas" now have to do with the growing class separation. The wealthy are getting even more so, and the rest are slipping down the slope of poverty.
  12. This doesn't need to happen. Putting those two together will not be good for the end consumer by any stretch of the imagination.

    Phat Phree

http://www.thephatphree.com/features.asp?S...&StoryYear=2005 Wow, how totally original! http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=beat They're like Maddox hacks, only they're about 1/3 as smart and they use words like "nigga", thus proving they're assholes.
  14. I don't think it would have been any worse. Bush doesn't make the decisions. He's just a figure head. I'm betting Cheney, shadow figures, or both, are behind all the policy.
  15. The Bush era only ends when he and his posse stop making laws and decisions. As of now, all American citizens are under his control one way or another; whether they like it or not. This is a nice feel good article for those who despise Bush (about 60% of the U.S. and 95% of the world), but it's empty; devoid of any meaning whatsoever. On the grand scale, the American economy is dead in the water for two reasons: 1. No true progressive tax. Just a half assed one with a $90,000 cap. This of course comes from political corruptions spurred on by corporations and wealthy individuals (who are the real rulers of the United States). 2. The WTO, lax international labor rights, and no governmental limits to outsourcing. It doesn't take a genius to figure out this is the meat of the problem. I think everybody (politicians) intentionally ignores it because they're in the pockets of multinational corporations (and because just enough of the voting base is stupid enough to not understand this, mainly rednecks and people attracted to secondary social issues like abortion and religion). If these problems were solved, National Healthcare in the United States would be fundable, even when the government still blows billions on war materials.
  16. But the dose in this case, and the way it's administered doesn't kill you.

    nfl 2005

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911019&prov=ap The Cards have no excuses with that many receivers. Obviously they have a shitty defense again. Manning threw two picks and still won. Warner is washed up. Brandon Jacobs is a monster. Watch out. Also, watch out for Tim Carter, Jamaar Taylor and David Tyree. The giants are stacked.

    nfl 2005

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911005&prov=ap Cleveland has a good squad, they just need more time together. Cinncy should win this game. They're ready to make the jump to the playoffs.

    nfl 2005

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911015&prov=ap Miami has excellent recievers and a stable QB (for the first time since Dan Marino). Good defense too. Heat was a factor. Broncos D is overrated. Plummer was not good enough today. Oh, by the way, where the fuck was Ashley Lelie?!?! 2 rec for 17 yards is not good enough for someone of his talent. Tatum Bell was unimpressive. Knowing Denver, they'll go through a couple thousand RBs this season.

    nfl 2005

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911012&prov=ap Freak plays, blunders, and a soft run defense spelled doom for the jets. Larry Johnson is a good back, as is Holmes, but with an O-Line like that, I'd rush for a couple too. Pennington had bad luck, it seems. I'll chaulk this one up as a bad day for the Jets offense rather than a sign of things to come. They may need to look to Derrick Blaylock for a fresh running game. I think Martin is beginning to slow down. At the very least, Martin needs to be spelled.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911008&prov=ap I thought Harrington should have blown out the shitty Green Bay defense, but the fact that he didn't, even though Favre turned it over 3 times is not good. He has a shit load of receivers; good ones too. He's got to get going next game.

    nfl 2005

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911024&prov=ap The Chargers defense is fragile. Linebackers are bland and undersized. KeyShawn was excellent, Crayton will soon be the number 2 receiver. Jones is going to be a top 5 back this year. Bledsoe is going to need better protection though down the stretch. He's a statue in the pocket and has a tendency to fumble while being sacked. With protection though, few are better than him. McCardell is playing like he's a young guy again. Brees was adequate. Tomlinson was good but got stuffed when it mattered.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911023&prov=ap Willie Parker is awesome and so is the run blocking. Good game management by Big Ben. Made nice throws when he had to. The end.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/recap?gid=20050911025&prov=ap The Rams defense is as shitty as they come. Rattay instead of Alex Smith is what let them win this game. A rookie might have lost this game. Good SF receivers, especially Battle. Bad game management by the Rams. Martz, you're an ass.
