  1. You'll probably like it more than I did since I'm kind of hard to please. I liked Tool's previous efforts and have come to expect innovation in their sound and good, fresh lyrics. I just felt this wasn't present at all.
  2. One of the greatest Tool songs to date.
  3. Was that........................................Tom Brady?!?!
  4. Well, at about midnight of May the 2nd, I downloaded a lossless copy of the new Tool album to give it a listen: The first two songs sounded almost like a mix between Tool and A Perfect Circle (with the sound being Tool while the vocals sound more suited to an A Perfect Circle song). However, I don't like the lyrics. The don't fit together well and it isn't at all appealing. The melody of the first song mirrors the first song from Lateralus (The Grudge) a lot. The second song is really just a continuation of the first. Track 3 (Wings for Marie) begins very very much like Parabol from Lateralus. 2/3 of the song is a waste of time, even using the excuse of artistic expression. They get an F for creativity. Lyrically and musically Track 4 (The Pot) was great. However, the creativity of the lyrics individually wasn't all that impressive. The words fit well together, but the words themselves didn't deliver. It kind of reminded me of "The Noose" and "The Outsider" from "Thirteenth Step" by A Perfect Circle, only those songs were more intricate and impressive. Tool's best quality was always metaphors and subtly. This was lacking. 10,000 Days, Track 5, was fed into by Track 4 with very little to add. I didn't even notice the switch in songs. Track 6 was filler disguised as artistic expression and mysticism. I've always gave Tool the benefit of the doubt when it came to filler because they were always so subtle about it, but this was ridiculous. Track 7, Lost Keys = Filler + a ScfFi movie plot. Track 8, Rosetta Stoned made me want to beat a baby dear to death with a tire iron. I'd rather hang myself by my testicles than listen this shit fest again. For "Intension", track 9, they decide to use the same fucking drum from "Disposition" (Lateralus) in the same fucking fashion. Consider this a remix of Disposition with different lyrics. Track 10, "Right in Two" was pretty good. A lot of different sounds from previous Tool songs were mixed in. The lyrics were ok too. They fit. Track 11 was filler and possibly an ending to the SciFi movie plot they had going in track 7. My overall rating of this album, even taking into account Tool's unique style, is 1 out of 5 stars. Were it not for "Right in Two", I would have given it 0 stars. If you're looking for a good new Tool album, you may have to wait another 5 years.
  5. I've always been a big fan of the Barenaked Ladies' music. Great stuff among the crap that is modern music.
  6. Of course he has the right to a moral compass. And the part about killing: It coincides if "his" moral compass says to carry out a foreign policy decision that results in death. Nobody is saying that a person doesn’t have the right to a “moral compass”. They are responsible for their actions though; compass or not. Also, a minor note; what you quoted has nothing to do with Bush, killing, foreign policy, or anything of relevance. It was an opinion footnote about the basic nature of "morals".
  7. I'm curious as to how this will be delivered. Will it be like any other update, where you can choose to install or uninstall? If so, most "pirates" will just avoid it.
  8. That's more like every "person", and some might not believe in the principle of "morals" (or have their own standards for their morals). I expect leaders to make decisions based upon what best serves the population of the living world and the reality of what happens to human beings from day to day. If their "moral guidance" coincides with this, fine. If their "moral guidance" is telling them to drop bombs on a city, then everyone needs to take a second look at the decision to see if it bests serves the people living their lives. I'm not so sure some recent military action has been best for large populations of people. 90% of those people have 32 as their IQ. The rest are easily influenced by certain media or are elderly who have a distorted and misguided sense of nationalism; borderlining on blind endorsement of anything "America".
  9. I fixed the URL for you Dude. You added an additional "ttp" after "http://".
  10. From a legal stand-point, this would would be struck down by the courts as unconstitutional.
  11. I didn't laugh, but only because it wasn't funny. Trust me, it wasn't for a lack of trying. I'd love to be able to say that i'm going to "burn" (since I don't believe in fairy tales). Unfortunetely, I didn't laugh. Here, have a laughing smiley instead:
  12. Art has the ability to do that (and I never said otherwise), I was just touching upon Dude's idea that it can wake up a large mass of conservative Muslims and their Jewish counter-parts. What is Waters' idea exactly? If you're saying that Waters' idea is to get people to think/talk about what he's doing then of course that's going to work. He has "celebrity" status and a following. If you're saying that Waters' idea is to attempt to "reach" conservative muslims, then you're both in for a disappointment.
  13. I do not agree to agree with our disagreement. I agree that you disagree with my assessment of your disagreement, but I......................(at this point Ken's head a' splodes). (Don't forget to include the actual counter-argument next time Dude Dastardly).
  14. I disagree completely. Russia's military spending and the bureaucracy (specifically the economic departments that communicated with the outside with regards to global trade) were the reason for its downfall. Also, it had a little to do with the CIA's various programs to incite revolutions and counter-revolutions, where deemed necessary. They didn't streamline their trade and they spent themselves to death. It was a "guns and butter" economy thing, and they chose guns. That's a big buzz phrase these days, "Winning the hearts and minds". All bullshit, especially with conservative Islam and corrupt war hawk governments in the business of reactionary politics (Israel) and social separation. Besides, there is no "the population". There are so many people it's becoming harder and harder to appeal to the "masses". Too much factioning. Look at it this way. Hamas is a conservative Islamic body. Hamas was elected by (some or most of) the very people that this music is supposed to "win over". How do you win over conservative Muslims with a rock concert? That's like trying to get a conservative Christian to sodmize Chef's black ass.
  15. Buffalo, NY, United States For the "Origin of the name" part, the theory that actually makes more sense is that "Buffalo" came from "Beau Fleuve" (French), which means "Beautiful River" (The Buffalo River or possibly even the Niagara river). It's just a pronunciation quirk that grew over time between English speaking people. I don't see how that's the least likely explanation. The one's mentioned before it are much more implausible. I guess whoever entered that into Wikipedia had that opinion. "Destroyed" as in "set on fire". Buffalo was practically burned to the ground (and of course during the War Of 1812 it happened again; this time by the bastard British). That's not suprising really. It certainly gets hot enough in the summer to use pools, and it certainly gets hot enough to use an air conditioner, if one so desires. It isn't Alaska damn it. We average 70-80 degrees F during the summer months. Last year was probably the hottest on record. We had a lot of 90+ degree (F) days The only reason there's been such a fuss over blizzards in this city is the fact that the couple of times we really got hit by the lake effect machine, it basically shut the city down for days (in the case of the '77 one, it took 2 weeks to get everything back to normal with National Guard assistance). It was just the fact that a sizable American city was SHUT DOWN for days (weeks). Of course, the New Orleans thing (as well as hurricanes, tornados, etc in general) dwarfs those little snow storms millions of times over, and the death toll, damage and carnage make it a no comparison issue. In retrospect, while the blizzards were a meteorological wonder, they didn't really do any damage. So now you know.... It's a bit amplified in Buffalo specifically, but it's a product of NY State being one of the highest tax burden states in the U.S. (2nd overall). Also, our political machine is inept (and corrupt as well). New York City sucks up all the tax dollars and the rest of the state is only thrown a few bones every once and a while (Buffalo is woefully under funded by NYS). There are ridiculous things like toll barriers around the city on its "Thruway" (the I-90 interstate feeds into and out of it). The money raised from this was originally supposed to fund its building and renovation and then was supposed to be REMOVED, but they were kept up even after it was all paid for. Currently the money goes into the state's general fund and almost all of it goes towards funding NYC. It was 50 cents for the longest time, but was raised to 75 recently (since the Thruway Authority and the governor feel they have absolute power, which they do). There are also ridiculous fees for hunting and fishing licenses that are supposed to fund DEC projects, however, many reliable sources and insiders have admitted that most of the money ends up in the, you guessed it, general fund. No surprise the governor is a dirty Republican asshole. He's even more dangerous than a conservative ideological based one because he can be bought and sold by anyone. He's not a hard liner on anything except making sure NYC gets its money and the Seneca Nation (Native Tribe) gets theirs. So in conclusion, unless you're looking to live the NYC life, stay out of the rest of New York State. It's a depressed and frustrated area with a high tax burden. Places like Buffalo are geographically beautiful and magnificent compared to the rest of the U.S. and have so much potential, but the political climate is maddening and access to the beautiful areas is restricted and underdeveloped (especially on Lake Erie). I recommend visiting, and I recommend the Finger Lakes and the Adirondack regions. Don't visit Buffalo unless you plan to commit suicide by jumping into the Niagara River (there are some great bridges for that purpose and people do it a lot). For killing yourself, I recommend the Rainbow Bridge (it's actually north of Buffalo at Niagara Falls, but you can stay in Buffalo until you do and since the place is so depressing, it'll keep you focused on the task at hand). You can walk across this bridge and when you get to the middle, you have a perfect view of Niagara Falls before you die. If you chicken out, you can head to Canada and check out the famous Clifton Hill region. Other bridge options include the Whirlpool bridge (don't be fooled by the name, there are more whirl pools by the Rainbow and besides, this is a train bridge and death by train is messy) and the Peace Bridge (located in the city of Buffalo). With the Peace Bridge, you get calmer water and a nice view of Lake Erie feeding into the Niagara River. I recommend wearing an inflatable floatation device in the shape of a duck (it'll give the rescue divers a laugh).
  16. That's great that he's playing in a Jewish-Arab village as a symbol of peace. Let's clarify though that a symbol of peace in the form of a rock concert won't help a damn with the actual conflict. Playing music doesn't make it all better. As a matter of fact, it has never done that in the history of mankind.
  17. He has to learn to stop talking to himself. Or perhaps contactmusic.com has to learn how to proof read their articles.
  18. Perhaps it was all those rattle snakes that people got in the mail.
  19. No, he just feels obligated to hate it because he's a self-proclaimed redneck. Secretly, he listens to him every chance he gets. Nobody will ever know his dirty little secret!
  20. If I'm not mistaken, I've heard their shitty music playing on commercials before. So I suppose that's ok and not "surrendering their integrity".
  21. yo we iz gonna hax0r juu up in to leik a bajizzlion pieces in sum darc alley bioatch!!!!!!!LOL1111111111111111111 (obviously this is sent using AOL via E-mail or Instant message)
  22. Cheerleading is such bullshit anyway. Who the fuck cares?
  23. One of my favorites. It's a fairly easy song to play too.
