AZ Congresswoman Shot in Tucson; Six Others Dead

Horrible breaking news out of Tucson as Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords died was shot in the head after a gunman started shooting at a political event hosted outside a Safeway in northwest Tucson. The 40-year-old Democrat, who was first elected to the US Congress in 2006, was talking to a couple around 10 am as part of her "Congress on Your Corner" events, when the suspect, now named as Jared Lee Loughner, 22, shot her at point blank range and then started firing indiscriminately at bystanders and passersby

It's not about cutting their state budgets -- Republican Governors Move To Gut State Workers Because They're A Political Threat
"Like a wind-whipped brush fire, the mass union protests that began in Madison, Wis., last week have spread to the capitals of Ohio and Indiana where Republican lawmakers also are trying to cripple the bargaining power of unions — and ultimately realize a cherished partisan dream of eradicating them. In each case, Republican talk of balancing budgets is cover for the real purpose of gutting the political force of middle-class state workers, who are steady supporters of Democrats and pose a threat to a growing conservative agenda."
