WINNIPEG -- Manitoba police and justice officials are warning parents of a "disturbing trend" in which young teens are posing nude in front of webcams and sending the pictures out on the Internet. "I'm very concerned parents and families are losing control," Justice Minister Gord Mackintosh said yesterday, calling webcams a "peephole for the world into a child's bedroom."
Lianna McDonald, executive director of Child Find Manitoba, said it's becoming a more common practice for teens, especially girls.
McDonald said cybertip.ca, Canada's national Internet pervert snitch line, has received 10 such complaints in the past few months alone. The majority of cases have involved girls between the ages of 13 and 15.

Nearly half of the country's secondary school teachers have suffered mental health problems due to worsening pupil behaviour, a survey has revealed.
The research, by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers, on 300 secondary school teachers, showed that abuse at the hands of pupils had left 46 per cent taking antidepressants or facing long lay-offs from school through stress.

LISBON, Conn. -- A state trooper was suspended for 15 days without pay after he was recorded on a 911 tape saying "too bad" to a caller seeking help for a man injured in a motorcycle accident.
State police said the dismissive answer by Trooper Robert Peasley did not affect the response time to the accident involving Justin Sawyer, 21, who died of a severe head injury a week after the crash last August. Peasley was suspended on Monday.

PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A 15-year-old girl was sentenced to 45 years in state prison Thursday for slitting the throat of a longtime friend in a fight over fireworks.
Christine Rogers, who was 13 when she was arrested in the July 2003 death Ashley Harvey, was tried as an adult and was convicted in February of second-degree murder.
She had faced life in prison but Circuit Judge Nick Geeker said he took her age into account in deciding on 45 years.
"This is not an easy case," he said. "The court wants to temper justice with mercy."
Rogers showed little reaction after hearing the sentence, which allows her to spend the rest of her youth with other young-adult offenders.
Witnesses testified that Rogers chased the 15-year-old Harvey with a butcher knife because she believed she was shooting fireworks at one of Rogers' younger sisters. The victim bled to death after being stabbed in the neck.

From a pure medical standpoint that would have ironically choked her to death. There is reason she was on a TUBE.
