Listen: Mike D and Ad-Rock, tUnE-yArDs Collaborate With Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band

This year, Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono Band are releasing a new album called Take Me to the Land of Hell. It's out September 17 via Chimera. "Bad Dancer", which features Beastie Boys Mike D and Ad-Rock, and "Tabetai", featuring tUnE-yArDs, are streaming above (via the Future Heart).

The album also features ?uestlove, Wilco's Nels Cline, and Miike Snow's Andrew Wyatt, plus Ono's bandmates from Cibo Matto and Cornelius. It was produced by Ono, her son Sean Lennon, and Cibo Matto's Yuka Honda. 

Here's a statement from Yoko about the album:

“My new album comes at a very special time for me. The energy I have right now, and the desire to continue to make as much great work as I can, is really moving me forwards all the time. This album is the culmination of a lot of ideas I’ve been having over the last few years and I feel proud to release it at such an exciting time of my life.”

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
