It seems Elton John is not a Madonna fan.

Taking the stage at a music awards show Monday, John accused the queen of pop of lip-synching and said he was astonished she had been nominated for best live act.

"Since when has lip-synching been live?" John said. "Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay 75 pounds (US$134) to see them should be shot.

"That's me off her ... Christmas card list," he added. "But do I give a toss? No."

Madonna's spokesman Liz Rosenberg refuted John's allegations.

"Madonna does not lip-synch nor does she spend her time trashing other artists," Rosenberg said in a statement. "She sang every note of her Re-Invention tour live and is not ashamed that she was well paid for her hard work."

Sicness, if you check out the board rules you'll see that we're trying to create a tolerant, easy going place. Your comment was a little much.

You don't have to agree with anyone else, but try not to offend any members that may be of any specific aspect of society. For instance, while I agree with your disgust with the hatred being expressed for Muslims, I hope you can see that your comment here does much the same.

Elton says sorry to Madonna

By Alexa Baracaia, Evening Standard

13 October 2004

Irascible rock star Sir Elton John has admitted he may have been unfair in comments about Madonna's supposed miming on stage.

At a charity fundraiser in Los Angeles he said: "It was probably a bit unfair because there are people who lip- sync worse and whole shows are lip-synced. Her show is not wholly lip-synced.

"Madonna is a great artist, a great performer and a great writer."

He had erupted over her nomination for best live act at a London awards ceremony earlier this month, saying: "F*** off ! Since when has lipsyncing been live?"

Ya know......I was never impressed much by Madonna myself......except for her boobies.......lol, but Elton needs to cool his engines a little. He started that crap with American Idol about them being racist and all which was a bunch of bullhockey which we all know wasn't true. Hey Elton old chap, COOOOOOOOL IT!!

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
