Mark Wahlberg and Michael Bay have clearly hit it off working on "Pain and Gain," because they're now going to be working a new film together. Back in October, Michael Bay stated that the new project won't be "Transformers 4," but it turns out that he might have spoken too soon.

Since "Transformers 4" will replace the franchise's original cast with a slew of new actors, many had hoped Bay would be casting Wahlberg in his new movie. But while the project that they're working on now is something else entirely, Bay wrote on his website that the passionate fan response has forced him reconsider his stance on not having Wahlberg in "T4."

"I squashed a rumor that was on the internet last week. It was about Mark Walhberg. Mark was rumored to be staring in Transformers 4. We are working on another movie together, not T4. I had such a great time working with Mark on Pain and Gain, and he gave such a great performance – well let’s say that very internet chatter gave me some ideas," he wrote. "We are at the inception of our story process right now on T4. Let’s say some ideas are gaining traction with me and my writer – so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter."

That's intriguing to say the least. While we don't know if Wahlberg would be game, it could be that Bay and his writer are now creating their lead to be a Wahlberg-type character. If that's the case, sign us on board, because we can use more action hero in this new "Transformers" film than what Shia LaBeouf had to offer in the previous three.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
