One of the biggest discoveries of 2011, Hidden Orchestra are back in London with their biggest headline show to date.

Fresh from selling out XOYO on their own back in May, the Scottish quartet head now to the cavernous space known as Village Underground in Shoreditch to deliver their bass heavy, brooding and beautiful sounds. Having found a perfect balance between electronic beats, deep basslines, string instruments and the astonishing synergy of their two drummers (!) Hidden Orchestra succeed in putting on a show that is as stimulating for the mind as it is for the body. Tonight the band will perform tracks from their forthcoming album out October 1st. We can’t recommend this band enough.

Hidden Orchestra will be joined on the bill by none other than Anchorsong! His remarkable performances are an awe-inspiring showcase of improvisation, conveyed effortlessly with a soulful warmth most acoustic acts strive for and a sense of spectacle rarely ever achieved in live electronic music. Joining him on stage will be his string quartet, combining with his samples and melodies to create simply stunning music.

Setting the place on fire will be DJ Kentaro, for our money the finest turntablist anywhere in the world, who has turned his attention to a heavier, dirtier sound! It’s gonna go OFF!

Line up

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
