JJ DOOM - Live 2nd November at Village Underground

Metal-faced rapper DOOM has been working on a brand new album project with Jneiro Jarel as the combined force JJ DOOM. Now Soundcrash presents a solo headline show from the Hip Hop supervillain showcasing “Key To The Kuffs” in the cavernous entrails of the Village Underground.

DOOM has previously worked under various pseudonyms including MF DOOM, VIKTOR VAUGHN, DANGER DOOM (with Danger Mouse) and MADVILLAIN (with Madlib). An essential and outlandish figure in underground hip hop, he always covers his face behind a Dr Doom mask and has created his own universe centered around the world of comic books and Japanese monsters. His unconventional approach, linguistic dexterity and sick flow have gained DOOM an army of ardent fans from many different corners of the music world, and counts musicians of the caliber of Thom Yorke as some of his biggest supporters. With new album “KEY TO THE KUFFS” in collaboration with Jneiro Jarel is out August Lex Recordings later this year DOOM is as influential and relevant as ever.

Philadelphia born Jneiro Jarel is a Philadelphia-based hip hop producer noted for his abstract style. He has also released records under his beat-making alias Dr. Who Dat? and the critically acclaimed group Shape of Broad Minds as well as remixing the likes of TV on the Radio or Radiohead. His latest adventure sees him join forces with DOOM both in the studio and live on stage.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
      You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention. 
      But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
