Jamie Foxx could be in the midst of a comeback with the trailer for his new film, "Django Unchained," dropping yesterday to rave reactions, and today, we find out that Foxx will literally go from playing a slave to the leader of the United States in America in "White House Down."

Foxx and Maggie Gyllenhaal recently signed on to join Channing Tatum in the action thriller, which has been described as "'Die Hard' in the White House."

In the film, Tatum will play a government agent who is tasked with saving the president and the future of the United States as we know it when a group of terrorists take control of the White House.

The script, which was written by the presidentially named James Vanderbilt sold for an impressive $3 million just a few months ago to Sony. The studio has been quick to put "White House Down" on the schedule for a fall 2013 release. Roland Emmerich will direct.

This project seems destined for big things. The first half of 2012 saw—to quote Liz Lemon—the "meteoric rise" of Channing Tatum, and the second half could belong to Foxx after "Django Unchained."

"White House Down" is only one of two films currently in development that would have 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue invaded by hostile forces. The other has Antoine Fuqua in talks to direct and Gerard Butler attached to star.

What do you think about the idea of Jamie Foxx playing the President of the United States in "White House Down"? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter!
