When XXL's Freshman Class issue hit newsstands, the first question we asked ourselves (out loud) was: WTF is French Montana wearing on his head? A bear hat, that's what. The Morocco-born rapper dropped into "RapFix Live" on Wednesday before Lil Kim took things over, and while he sat on the red couch, Sway Calloway definitely had a few questions about that hat. Bear action starts at the 8-minute mark in the video above, followed by an explanation from French in the video below.

During his visit, French chatted about making the XXL Freshman list, admitting that he almost turned it down, before reconsidering. "I kinda like wasn't gonna do it, because I felt like I deserved it two years ago, last year. You know how that goes," he told Sway.

After taking a meeting with the XXL staff, French eventually changed his mind and agreed to appear on the cover. "They were like, 'This is based upon if you don't have an album out.' But to me I looked at it as another stepping stone because I respect everything they do," French told Sway. "I said, 'I really don't have no album out and I'm still like a rookie to the mainstream world.' "

But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
