Though I've listened to more albums from 2010 than any other year, I've found it to be the most disappointing year thus far, with only 4 albums deserving of my "four star rating" or above. 2011 will be much better, I believe, as it will contain many new albums from bands I am very fond of. Here is a short list of bands I know of that are releasing things!
of Montreal - False Priest (no idea when this will finally come out!)
Architecture in Helsinki - Vision Revision (this was supposed to come out last year and it isn't even done yet)
Vampire Weekend - Contra (this might not be very good from the songs already out)
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
Final Fantasy/Owen Pallet - Heartland
Spoon - Transference
She & Him - Volume Two
MGMT - Congratulations
The Magnetic Fields - Realism
Massive Attack - Heligoland
Smashing Pumpkins - (more of) Tear Garden by Kaleidoscope
New albums without names yet from:
LCD Soundsystem
!!!
Interpol (Paul Banks said that it will be better than the last one!)
The Strokes (I thought this last year too but they're apparently back in the studio so it's more than a rumor now! but I have low expectations regardless)
blink-182 (hoping this won't be too awful)
My Chemical Romance (this will be pretty awful)
I'm sure I'm forgetting some, and there will be surprise albums later... This year seems exciting any which way though!
Beach House's album Teen Dream already leaked back in November and I'm quite fond of it, or at least the first half of it. Much better than whatever they've done in the past (though I'm just judging that their past work was awful from the singles).
