The Rutles really happened in the late 70's. The dates are as much a piss take as the tunes. Very clever parodies of Beatles songs. I think I actually prefer them.

Redneck... if it's any comfort... they weren't a real band... not really real in the sense of reality just pretend real. heh!

Neil Innes was also in the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band who you might have heard of. And I'm sure you've heard of Eric Idle from Monty Python.
