Alex Ross, the music critic for The New Yorker, recently visited China to check out the music scene first hand:
"Western musicians, administrators, and critics who visit China have lately come away murmuring observations along the lines of “classical music is exploding” and “the future of classical music lies in China.” Between thirty million and a hundred million children are said to be learning piano, violin, or both, depending on which source you consult."

alex, the music critic from the new yorker has done a fine research and it is based on facts. Definitely, the music boom in the republic of china is on a very high graph. You cannot underestimate the potential as far as the music development is concerned keeping in view the passion the millions have to learn pianos and various stringed instruments. China will rule the world in classic and pop compositions.
