Officials Estimate $3 Billion Will Be Needed To Cleanup California Wildfires

The California wildfires that took over part of the state may now be officially over but the clean-up of debris from the flaming homes and buildings may take longer to cleanup. According to The Hollywood Reporter, officials estimate that at least $3 billion will be needed to take care of the 19,000 homes and businesses that were lost. 

California Office of Emergency Services Director Mark Ghilarducci tells the publication that the clean up will begin in January and will take the year to complete. As for right now, State and federal officials are working diligently to remove hazardous materials from homes to prevent any other disasters. 

The deadliest fire in the history of the state killed at least 85 people while 249 continue to be unaccounted for as rescue crews look through debris for human remains.

As we know, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West helped save their block from going up in flames when they hired private firefighters to tame and control the fire that were inching towards their property. Kanye followed up by donating $500,000 to the wildfire relief fund, while Kim presented two cheques on The Ellen DeGeneres show -  one $200,000 check to the California Community Foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund, and another $200,000 check to the California Fire Foundation.
