Kirin J Callinan’s New Album Features Mac DeMarco, New “S.A.D.” Video Features His Penis

Kirin J Callinan recently returned with a goofy video titled “Off the Record,” which featured Mac DeMarco, Weyes Blood, Jack Black, and a bunch of others. Now, Callinan has announced his forthcoming second album, Bravado. It’s out June 9 via Terrible. See the artwork and the album’s full tracklist below. Bravado features guest appearances from DeMarco, Weyes Blood, James Chance, Alex Cameron, Connan Mockasin, Owen Pallet, Sean Nicholas Savage, and the Finn Family.

He’s also shared the video for his new single “S.A.D.,” which was filmed on location in Cuba. Directed by Danny Cohen, the clip includes a brief moment where Callinan flashes his penis. “We wanted to explore the potential fine line between smut and art, beauty and vulgar, poser and provocateur,” Cohen said in a press release. “We wanted to explore around the permissions a person can create in society and see which side of those our collaborations would fall into.” Callinan released his last full-length album Embracism in 2013. He is currently on tour; see here for the full list of dates.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?

That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
