'Divergent' Finale Heading to TV to Launch Spin-off Series

Lionsgate is now planning to debut The Divergent Series: Ascendant on television rather than in theaters. According to Variety, the intention is then to launch a TV series with the same post-apocayptic setting. What is most surprising about the plan is that the first two films in the series were financially successful. Rising star Shailene Woodley (top) played Beatrice, born into a future society divided into five factions; she, however, doesn't truly fit into any faction and soon learns about a sinister plot that's afoot.
