Redneck Reflections

We have enjoyed the redneck jokes for years. It's time to take a

reflective look at the core beliefs of a culture that values home, family,

Country and God. If I had to stand before a dozen terrorists who threaten my

life, I'd choose a half dozen or so rednecks to back me up.

Tire irons, squirrel guns and grit -- that's what rednecks are made of.

I hope I am one of those.

You might be a redneck if...........

It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, "One nation, under

God. . "

You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public

places.

You still say "Christmas" instead of "The Holidays."

You bow your head when someone prays.

You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National

Anthem.

You treat Vietnam vets with great respect, and always have.

You've never burned an American flag in protest.

You know what you believe in and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who

is listening.

You respect your elders and expect your kids to do the same.

You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

If you have read this and agree with all of the above it is because you, like me

have just enough Redneck in you to have the same beliefs.

IF ALL THIS IS TRUE THEN I GUESS I ARE ONE AND PROUD TO BE ONE. GOD BLESS US ALL.

I was taught those things as a child, and I believe in them to this day!

Well, you can't just throw away 80 years of memories.

    • Wait, Burning Man is going online-only? What does that even look like?
You could have been forgiven for missing the announcement that actual physical Burning Man has been canceled for this year, if not next. Firstly, the nonprofit Burning Man organization, known affectionately to insiders as the Borg, posted it after 5 p.m. PT Friday. That, even in the COVID-19 era, is the traditional time to push out news when you don't want much media attention.
But secondly, you may have missed its cancellation because the Borg is being careful not to use the C-word. The announcement was neutrally titled "The Burning Man Multiverse in 2020." Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
