Expect to see Canadian Copyright Law Americanized

Although Canadians have been enjoying rather liberal copyright rights, most know their government has threatened to introduce changes to closer follow the American example. Following a short letter I sent to the Canadian Heritage Minister voicing my displeasure at her announcement that she would seek 'copyright reform', I have recieved a response.

While certainly there is an election taking place and Canadians should not expect legislation before the fall, should the Liberals win they have absolute intentions to introduce right-limiting legislation.

While the Conservative Party has not threatened to attack Canadians in this manner, similar attempts can be expected. It is only the Canadian New Democratic Party that is not threatening to sell Canadian citizens' rights to industry.

Something to keep in mind.

Even as it offers refunds to early ticket buyers, considers layoffs and other belt-tightening measures, and can't even commit to a physical event in 2021, the Borg is making lemonade by focusing on an online-only version of Black Rock City this coming August.    Read more...
